De Vries is an Amsterdam-based photographer whose work is characterized by timeless narratives of women from the present, past, and future.
De Vries has a background in graphic design, which is clearly reflected in her aesthetic. Her photographs are characterized by geometric shapes and precise cropping. She strives to create balance in her images and often experiments with lines, shapes, and frames to highlight the unique character of her models.
“I take most pictures when I’m not photographing. It’s in the subconscious. The women in my photographs represent a part of myself,” says De Vries.
By breaking with traditional gender roles and stereotypes, de Vries challenges the male gaze and highlights the complexity and diversity of women.
