Exhibition September 26 – January 27

Daniel Månsson is an award-winning photographer whose unforgettable images have been published in Vanity Fair, The New York Times, and The Economist Magazine. His photographs are poetic and meaningful, quiet yet full of life. Born and raised in Sweden, Daniel’s body of work is connected by a subtle thread linking high and popular culture, the commercial and the everyday. His first book, Faces of Skateboarding (2005), established him as a storyteller and anthropologist within the intertwined worlds of skateboarding and surf culture. The book received a grant from the Swedish Authors’ Fund and was distributed by Blitz.

In 2010, Daniel was awarded the Hasselblad Foundation Grant for Nature Photography. His subsequent books, Super and The Cat’s Meow, have also received government-funded arts grants. His photographs have been featured in some of the world’s leading action sports magazines, including SLAP, The Skateboarder’s Journal, and Concrete Wave.

The exhibition at Lydmar Hotel presents a selection of photographs from Daniel’s many years in the skateboarding world, featuring portraits and images of some of the world’s leading skateboarders. At the same time, it marks the launch of his new book, a personal story about skate culture, photography, California, and the dream of finding one’s own path.
